Heirloom quality 30’s vintage Hand Beaded Clutch bag form Belgium. The
magnificent pastel embroidery is microscopic chain stitch in peach, powder blue and
gray-green, outlined in gray. The four flowers on the front of the bag have prong set
faceted jewel centers. This style of bag is
called “Bead and Tambour” work. It
is extremely labor intensive and to my knowledge is no longer done. The top five inch metal zipper opens to a
spotless white taffeta interior with two open pockets.
Woven fabric label reads “Handmade in Belgium.” Exquisite
condition, inside and out and a definitive example of this type. Measures 7 ½ x 1 x

A00693: This flashy 1930 vintage beaded and sequined
evening bag was hand made in Czechoslovakia. The
front is decorated in a pattern that enhances the shell like scallop of the bottom line. The back is covered entirely with sequins. The metal zip top opens to an apricot faille
interior with a single open pocket. The lining shows very slight soiling and marks. The
sequins on the exterior have the mellow archival appearance that only time can bring. The condition is excellent structurally with no

Elegant 50’s Beaded Evening Bag by George Baring Paris. The many unique features include Pave’
Rhinestones embellishing the handle hardware and distinctive lift-up latch hardware (see

on the front simulate an envelope flap. The
bag is entirely covered in minute glass beads about half the size of modern beads. The gold metal frame is embossed in a vine and
leaf pattern. The pale mint green satin
lining is in excellent condition, but does show some lipstick stains on the bottom and

C00066: Subtle and mysterious Art Nouveau wrist strap
style pouch bag is beaded front and back in green and bronze Carnival glass on a faceted
black bead background. The stylized veined leaf design is entirely unique. The beaded body
is mounted on a black fabric interior structure, resulting in open pockets front and back
between the beaded outer shell and a center latching section secured with metal acorn
finials. The latching section was relined at some point in the past in dotted navy silk
over the original damaged lining which is still present underneath. Excellent condition. Measures 7 1/4 x 13 1/2 inches. SOLD
A00340: Exquisite and elegant beaded silk
evening bag ca. l9l5 has no maker's mark but the look of a custom designed bag. The large silver beads are faceted steel and point
to a probable French origin. The unusual
closure is beautifully designed with the fabric handle looped through the double beaded
circles. A one-inch diameter beaded sphere
slides down the handle to close. The rosy
beige silk body is meticulously hand beaded every ¼ inch front and back, beaded on all
edges and assembled in such minute silk stitches it defies imagination. If you have ever tried to make a covered bead,
you'll know how exceptional this fringe is. The
interior is fully lined in matching silk and features a gathered open pocket. Its flawless condition makes it a treasure in every
respect. Measures 6 x 7 inches at the body,
15 inches total length.

representative, the front and back of the bags are beaded in a triple leaf design which
must be seen to be fully appreciated. The curvilinear patterning and the faceting of the
short tubular beads gives the bag an ever changing appearance as the light moves across
it! The beaded 3/4” wide fabric handle is mounted on opposite sides of the frame to

transparent root beer colored glass beads! The bag’s many remarkable features include
gathered peplum detail front and back, beaded loop edge on peplum and sturdy double beaded

990769: A unique example of a late 40's vintage metal frame handbag. In this case the
front and back are beaded in faceted black glass. The
front surface is embellished with a three dimensional glass beaded daisy built out from
the surface like a relief sculpture. Its multitude of loop petals hang free from the
surface. The elegant beaded twist handle is
entirely covered and no beads are missing. The wide gold metal frame is engraved with a
5/8-inch wide border and latches with two large spheres.
The interior is fully lined with sumptuous brown satin. The space is divided in
half by a gold-corded gusset mounted center partition. One side of the bag has a
gold-corded open pocket; the other has a similar pocket with a lipstick slot built into

sparkles in stripes and squares of silver, bluish gunmetal gray and black. Plastic zipper

certain amount of expansion front and back to provide a fair amount of carrying capacity.

Beautiful Enameled Mandalian Metal Mesh bag in cream, peach and aqua. Try as I might, my
picture hardy does it justice!! Central abstract floral bouquet is framed by a fluid
abstract Art Nouveau design with abstract floral elements. The floral theme is carried
into the floral basket embossed on the frame. The frame is marked with the manufacturer's
mark. Note the detailed Van Dyke fringe. Shown lower right of page 104 of "Vintage
Purses" by Schwartz. Measures 4 1/2 x 6 1/2". Some enamel wear at the top edge
of the frame where it gets the most handling (see detail.) Dainty 12" soldered square

The magnificent cathedral frame and unusual colors of this Mandalian bag make it
especially desirable for any collector. The cream colored enameled background offsets the
angular floral design in pink, mauve, turquoise and gold. There are 2 slightly shortened
fringes on one end of the bag (see detail.) The silver plate frame is marked
“Mandalian Mfg Co” in incised lettering and features fluid floral engraving.
There is a single mesh missing under one side of the hinge. One side of the bag shows
slight darkening which I feel in soiling, but fear enamel damage with any more vigorous
cleaning (see detail.) The bag is unlined. Measures 3 1/4 x 6 1/2” not including

Elegant Mandalian Enameled Mesh Bag in a graceful geometric floral design. Colors are
pink, metallic gold and black on a white background. Elaborate gold metal frame features a
pair of birds forming the latch! Marked in embossed lettering on the frame. Floral trimmed
Van Dyke fringe. Oval soldered link 14" handle. Bag is unlined. Some slight wear to
the enamel on the back side of the bag, but only to the black detail (see detail.) It
doesn’t effect the design or beauty of the bag, as those areas still appear black but

This one has some condition problems, foremost being color fading on the front which has reduced the vitality of the rose and peach tones. Simply remarkable Whiting & Davis ELSAH Art Deco Enamel Mesh bag in flamboyant shades
of medium green, orange and brown on an eggshell background. These deco style Whiting
& Davis bags are some of the most sought after ever made. Condition is excellent with
no loose mesh and only very slight enamel wear on the raised edges of the frame (see
detail.) There are about 9 mesh in one area of the background with moderated wear, but the
camera can’t pick it up. It’s only visible on very close examination. Soldered

angular styling of the design make this classic Art Deco. The chain handle is soldered
figure 8 links. The bag is unlined. The frame shows some plating wear and carried the
embossed Whiting & Davis logo. There is some separation of mesh under the hinges so
frequently seen in these bags and some enamel loss in the same areas. Just the thing for

A00143: It’s a lovely Whiting & Davis Enamel Mesh Evening Bag with cutwork
filigree frame. The bag is an older type and carried the Whiting & Davis hand tag. The
delicate design is rendered front and back in blue-green, red, green and pink on a gold
enameled background. The substantial brass chain handle is comprised of alternating oval
and figure 8 links, each individually soldered. The bag is fully lined in gold satin which
does have a few stains but is good and sound. Excellent condition with only slight wear to
the enamel on about a dozen mesh under the hinges, a frequently seen and age appropriate
sign of age in these bags. Measures 5 3/4 x 1 1/2 x 5

black and white. The enamel is in excellent
condition with no apparent loss of paint. The unusual scallop lift-up latch open to reveal
the original apricot satin lining, Whiting & Davis frame logo and a Whiting &
Davis fabric label. There is a small worn area at the top edge of the lining and very
slight soiling. The 8” chain handle is comprised of rectangular links, each engraved

marked “Germany” in incised letters on he frame.
This is a rare geometric example of a Dresden mesh bag. The geometry is accentuated by the outstanding Van
Dyke fringe is quintessential Art Deco. The frame latches with a pair of red Bakelite
trimmed cylinders. The bag is unlined. There are three tiny gaps on one side of the bag,
each missing a single link. The mesh of the areas under the hinges, so commonly damaged in
these bags, is in excellent condition. Very slight enamel wear near the latch and hinges. A MUST HAVE for the serious collector. Measures 4 1/2 x 7”. SOLD

C00061: Fascinating German silver metal mesh bag is a work
of metal with a feel referential to fabric. The
detailing on the body and fringe looks for the world like crochet in wire. The detailing on the wide silver frame is quite in
the Art Nouveau style. The bag is unlined. The large spherical hasp opens to the spacious
interior. There is no gaping under the
hinges or gasps in the chain so often seen in these bags.
The frame is "G. silver" in incised letters indicating an 800 silver
content. It's a spectacular bag that would enhance any collection. Measures 6 x 7 3/4 inches.
