Nouveau embossed leather bag in a lovely Morning Glory design. Chestnut brown leather has
a mellow patina. Jemco metal turn key latch is dated 1-25-21. Lacing is in excellent
condition with no breaks. Fully lined in olive green suede with two small open pockets.
One small dark spot visible in the lower right corner of the picture (see detail.) Back is

990662: Art Nouveau style embossed Leather bag, a later rendition dated 1931. Turn style
latch on gun metal frame with raising sun latch detail. Interior is lined with suede
cloth, not real suede as is usual in the older bags. Two open interior pockets. Some
soiling and wear to the interior and some dryness and cracking on the edges of the strap
handle. Probably best used as a collection display bag, but generally very good condition.

American alligator) Handbag. The rectangular
covered latch hinges forward to release the envelope flap.
The interior is fully lined in tan suede and is divided down the center by a

metal zip pocket. The adjustable 3/4"

A remarkable Argentine leather shoulder bag ca 1960, constructed of interlocking leather
patches and strips. Front and back circular medallions are heavily textures flat leather
panels attached to the sided with one strip of black and another of burgundy. The front
flap has similar flat panels, edged I burgundy. Marked in black lettering "Made of
Argentine 100% Leather." The double shoulder strap measures 38". There is some
edge wear to a few of the strips otherwise excellent condition and structurally perfect.

Highly sought after and rarely found BAKELITE & LEATHER Accordion bag. I have looked
for many years and this is the first one I’ve ever seen! The 2" wide snap
closure flap opens to reveal a three panel interior. The top section, lined in brown
satin, carries a woven fabric label reading "Bogon." The center red satin
lined section has an open pocket with a special slot fitted for lipstick. The third
section, lined in green satin, has another large open pocket. All interior pockets are
edged in gold leather cording. The remarkable bakelite frame is flawless with no cracks,
chips or breaks. Illustrated on page. 56 of "A Century of Handbags" by Kate
Dooner. Some industrial designer worked overtime on this incredible bag. Measures 10 1/4 x

B00191: What a stroke of luck! I thought I'd never find another Bogon Leather and
Bakelite accordion bag, but here it is! This
one is Navy! The Belt-style snap latch opens
to show an expanded interior, comprised of three compartments. The top one is lined in navy satin and carries the
Bogon fabric label on the gold-corded open pocket. The
middle compartment is lined in red satin and its gold-corded pocket is fitted to hold
lipstick. The third section is identical to
the first, but lined in gold satin. The
linings are generally in excellent condition, though the gold section shows some abrasion
to the sheen of the satin. Structurally
flawless condition! There are some scratches
on the leather and some spots on the finish of the 18 metal buttons the hold the complex
structure together (see detail.) It's a

jewelry-like metal work of the latch is framed by a contoured cut out in the front the

C00251: A fantastic drum shaped Coblentz
handbag has several unique features. The
color is an unusual brown with coppery, almost metallic highlights. The soft flowing pleats on the front have a fabric
like appearance. The beautiful curvature of
the lid is accentuated by the contoured rounded binding of the bag's top edge. The snap tab latch opens to a spotless brown
faille interior with a single elastic edged open pocket.
A vintage mirror is included. The
lining's only defect is a single line of abrasion inside the lid. Three tiny metal feet protect the bottom. The outside shows some edge abrasion and wear
(See detail). The bag's defects pale compared
to its charm. Measures 5 1/4 inches in

than you might expect! Very slight lining abrasion and wear to the bottom outside corners

Rarely found 30’s vintage Czechoslovakian Leather handbag, marked in incised
lettering on both wooden handles "Made OF Czechoslovakia" which in a
profound way may be quite true! Check page 133 of "Handbags" by Ettinger for
less dramatic examples of these hand-woven leather strip bags dated 1932. The banded
stripes are formed of "figure 8" shaped interlocking strips of leather. Earth
tones are sparked by a rectangle of bright berry red and black & white reptile strips.
Excellent condition, especially for its age. Unlined as intended. You’ll never see

960411: A real classic Red Lizard Handbag by the famous vintage maker Dietsch. The large
covered button flips forward to open the bag. Fully lined in black taffeta, which shows
some wear to the top edges of the 3 open pockets. Includes the Deitsch fabric label with
their zany dancing lizard mascot!! The wide 16" long strap handle is lined in black
leather which shows some wear along the edges, but nothing dramatic or restricting of use.

B00276: Deitsch Brown Alligator Box Bag is made in an
unusual Trapezoidal shape. The judicious placement of the texture adds visual interest. The shape is remarkable in that the front face of
the bag measures 7 3/8" across at the bottom and 6" the top, while the back face
of the bag measures 8 3/8 at the bottom and 7" at the top. It's an incredibly complex
shape and not one you'd see after WWII! The turn-style latch opens to a spotless
reddish-brown leather interior with two open pockets.
Double sided vintage mirror and tortoise comb are included. There is some edge wear on the 1" wide handle
and the bottom of the bag, but nothing that detracts from the appearance of the bag. The bag is 4" front to back and 4 1/2"

C00004: Dorette Red Snakeskin Vanity Bag with matching
belt, size 10. The double-sided bag and the
belt latch with unusual gold hemisphere hardware whose tiny “ears” compress into
the sphere to allow the circular openings in the tabs to go over (see detail.) The juicy cranberry color is especially enticing. One side of the bag has a loose powder compact
compartment with the unused original puff and sifter, a lipstick slot and center money
compartment. The beveled edge mirror shows
considerable darkening and spotting and carries labels reading “Patent Pending”
and “Hand Made Genuine Snakeskin.” The other side of the bag could be used of
cigarettes or necessities. Excellent unused
condition. The belt varies from 26 ½ to
30” in length. The bag is a petite 5 ¾

The signs of quality are everywhere and include gracefully curved gold metal handle

C00111: Sophisticated Evans black suede
fitted handbags circa 1947. Similar bags are
illustrated on pages 242-2 47 of "Vanity Bags & Purses" by Gerson, along
with vintage dated advertising. The handsome
disc shaped suede-trimmed latch and sparkling gold metal fittings offset the suede
beautifully! The sumptuous red satin interior is detailed with numerous open pockets,
designed for comb, compact, lipstick and lighter on one side, satin backed beveled glass
hand mirror and pristine red satin coin purse with safety chain on the other side. With everything in this designated spot, there's
plenty of carrying capacity remaining. There
is some wear to the sheen of the satin lining, otherwise the interior is flawless. The lipstick tube,
compact with original puff and sifter, mirror and coin purse are in unused
condition, with some aging apparent on the hand mirror.
The detailing out of compact matches the patterning of the handbag frame. It's a VERY desirable item for handbag or compact

B00041: This stunning Evans Black Leather fitted handbag
carries the regal Evans proprietary latch. The elegantly detailed black satin interior
features a complex assemblage of pockets. It has a gold-corded open pocket and a matching
black satin change purse, attached to the interior with a safety chain. A tortoise plastic comb with gold trim resides in
its own pocket. A very similar bag is
illustrated on page 241 of "Vanity Bags and Purses" by Gerson and it's dated
1947. At that time, the bag cost $60! The gold frame is incised with a herringbone
pattern that really sparkles. Excellent

other side. Pristine matching coin purse included too! Some slight indications of use, but

A00763: Spectacular 2-toned alligator Convertible clutch.
The worn strap handle has been replaced with a hefty metal chain. The tan suede-cloth
interior features two gold-corded open pockets and one metal zip pocket. The lining shows some slight wear at the flex
points of the gussets but no other signs of use. Exterior
shows typical edge wear. My guess is, based on the woven fabric label with its four-digit
telephone number in Hong Kong, this bag dates pre-WWII.

A00529: Elegant Red-Violet suede 30’s style clutch bag by I. Miller, a well-known
Midwest shoe store. The front of the bag is embellished with a blue Violet Gilt edge
detail in shiny leather that is woven through openings in the front of the bag. The finish
and detail of the interior is simply not to be believed! The spotless Red-Violet faille
interior features a single gathered open pocket. The matching faille center purse is
permanently affixed to the middle of the interior by metal frame extensions. When open,
this inner purse reveals a white kid lined pouch on one side and a Red-Violet faille pouch
on the other. The back of the bag is equipped with a hand loop. Spotless, unused

brown leather. Deeper inside, the bag is
lined in brown twill, with a single voluminous plastic zip pocket. This is a more recent bag with a magnetic class

handbag by Jerry Moss Holiday. The outer body
of the bag is an oval bottomed bucket with a deep "V" neckline. Peeking out from the "cleavage" is the
double gold frame latch that has certain anatomical characteristics. The interior is fully lined in spotless black
taffeta. The lining does show some wear along
the edge of the open pocket and near the edge of the frame on one side (See detail). The inner latched portion of the bag is
permanently fixed within the leather bucket and is covered in black suede. The interior of the bucket is lined in black

Justin company in embossed leather bag circa 1925. A beautiful combination of Art Nouveau
and Art Deco styling. The hammered the metal frame, filigree latch, turn style pull and
embossed floral pattern are classic Art Nouveau. The straight line in embossed leather
features and the square handle attachment hardware add an Art Deco note. The frame is
marked Jemco, and patent dates 1917 and 1918 are embossed on the frame. The green suede
lining is in excellent condition. It features two open pockets, a matching leather coin

B00071: LaVedette de Paris black suede cylindrical vanity bag illustrated on page 198 of
"Vanity Bags" by Gerson. This
unusual design features a bottom swivel that can raise the vanity to eye level. The 1/2 inch wide suede handle has a slide and
swivels at the attachments to permit the lid to open unimpeded. The double click metal latch serves both to fasten
the bag's lid and the loose powder compact contained within the lid. The compact includes the sifter but no puff and
appears unused. Ingenious interior design
features a slit for storing the Art Deco style fold up tortoise comb, which has
unfortunately broken loose from its frame and too fragile to use. Its case however is exquisite. The bag was purchased on a honeymoon trip in the
spring of 1948 and visited the Moulin Rouge and the Eiffel Tower with its owner! Includes
the original boxes. It's a rare collector's

curvaceous 30’s Reptile clutch in deep mahogany brown. Soft sided, gathers reptile
bags are seldom found in any condition. The skins are in excellent condition with no
troublesome cracks, supple and soft. The interior is fully lined in brown taffeta which
does show some staining and wear, especially where it has scuffed against the zipper
teeth. Interior is divided into three segments, a large central zip section with a large
open section, front and back. A very tactile bag with a lot of life in it! Measures 13 x 1

woven strips of matte and gloss patent leather. Color wise, the chartreuse and maroon
point to a 50's date, but the design is very 60's Carnaby Street! The interior is as much

pockets, all edged in black patent leather piping. Unmarked but exquisitely made. Gold

990767: Marvelous Texture Black Leather handbag is quite a design feat! Front exterior of
the bag features a full-sized metal zip pocket. The inner portion of the bag is surrounded
on both sides by deep open pockets for frequently used items. The center section of the
bag is latched with a 4-loop clasp which closes the 3 separate interior segments and forms
a magnificent Art Deco style ornament. All pockets are lined in spotless black taffeta.
One of the inner sections has a metal zip pocket. Unmarked but beautifully constructed.
