covered basket weave handbag in Lipstick red, navy and white. The bag is handmade by “Adonia British Hong
Kong.” The interior is fully lined in

Dating this bag is difficult, but the metal zipper points to mid-60’s
or early 70’s. The gold metal latch and
hinged handles really sparkle. The bag

by "Miss Bergdorf, Bergdorf
Goodman, 746 Fifth Ave. N.Y." The construction is unique, with identical envelope
flap pouches front and back, both lined in pristine black faille. The front and back
differ only in the latch trim, one side being a double circle geometric, the other a 2-franc Monaco coin with the profile of Louis II
adorning the obverse. The stirrup style handle emerges from the space between the two
pouches. The ends of the handle frame a central open pocket, ideal for easy access. Four metal button feet protect the bottom. Slight

990587: Christine of Detroit is a well
known vintage label in this area. Her expertise in finishing needlework done by local
ladies is legendary and unsurpassed. This particular example has a petite Point center
surrounded by needlepoint roses. Identical front and back. Note the double pearly clasp on
the gold filigree frame. The bag is bound in matching needlepoint border, trimmed with a
corded edge. Lined in frosty pink silk taffeta with 2 of Christine’s signature tuck
pleated open pockets. The bag is perfect except for 3 worn areas in the lining, one at
each hinge and the smallest on the bottom where the pink silk has shredded but the

Christine of Detroit custom finished needlepoint bag. Identical front and back designs are
a combination of needlepoint and petite point, beautiful bouquets of summer flowers in
muted colonial tones. The edge is bound in a matching border of single flowers and edged
in matching braid. Scrumptious cornflower blue silk lining with "Christine Custom
Bags of Detroit" label and a pair of her signature tuck pleated open pockets.

Vinyl covered off-white linen-like fabric bag by Clair Fashions. The front of the bag is
embellished with a collage of needlepoint flowers, gold glitter and tiny white beads. The
white lucite frame is probably by Rialto. There is some fogging in the front lucite
surface. The bag is fully lined with gold vinyl. Its single metal zip pocket has a 2 inch
tear at the corner of the zipper which I have stabilized to the best of my ability.
Otherwise, the interior is flawless. This is a spacious and very attractive example of a

A00169: A fabulous Delill Creation, styled after Persian
Miniatures, is probably the product of a fashion by recently discovered in a 1954 trade
journal. Ladies of the time were encouraged to simultaneously use two handbags, one petite
and one immense! This large shopping bag style handbag has one large metal zip pocket and
a huge interior fitted bag, with a spring clasp. This inner bag is permanently mounted in
the interior of the shopping bag. The lining and the internal handbag are gold lame'.
Excellent condition and totally unique! Includes the original Delill tag with style number

980445: Here's a bit of education for you
handbag mavens. This Dofanette Red vinyl
handbag was made in France by the Dofan Handbag Company. I swear was made inside out! Red vinyl exterior is nice enough, but the red
leather interior is a knockout and features a large metal zip pocket. I believe this to be a very early vinyl bag circa
1935. The condition is very good with just a
few spots on the gold lift-up latch. There is
a small mar on the inner surface of leather covering the metal frame. But the bag is still a collector's piece. Measures 9 x 2 x 9 1/2 inches. SOLD

A00745: A high style 50's Dorset
Rex bag, with beveled edged black Lucite lid, bottom and sculptural handle. The gold metal frame that attaches through the
base plate ends in four metal Feet. The
alternating strips of 1" and 1/2" black leather are woven on the frame to form
the body of the bag. The gold lift up he
latch pierces the black leather tab closure. The
body of the bag is fully lined in beige cotton. Its
single elastic edge open pocket carries the Dorset Rex 5th Avenue fabric label. The lining shows 2 small pen marks and slight
discoloration were the adhesive attaches the lining to the body of the bag. The metal parts are in immaculate condition. It's a classic!
Measures 7 1/2 x 5 inches at the bottom, 9 1/2 x 6 inches at the top and 7

A00465: Horizontally striped Dorset Rex Handbag features
Lucite handle and lid, and beige mother of pearl acetate body. The metal fittings and
structure of the bag shows slight scratching and age. The peach satin interior is ink
stains and somewhat worn, but the bag still has a lot of charm. Measures 7 x 4 inches at

990820: Dorset-Rex all metal, silver basket
weave handbag with "S" hook latch. Navy lining has discolored with age, but
includes a lid mounted pocket and fitted cuffs, for comb, lipstick and compact to hold
your belongings. There are some surface scratches, a few tiny dark spots in the metal.
Overall very good condition, but does show some wear. Measures 7"x 4" at the

further investigation, because the bag contains an inspection sticker from the Dover
Handbag Company as well as a notation on the Filene’s tag that this was a Dover

990791: Dover brown Faux Reptile handbag in an unusual
cylindrical shape. The brass clad handle is trimmed on the inner surface with a band of
translucent amber lucite. The metal portion of the handle shows some plating wear,

center zip pocket. In the interior of the pocket there is some plastic residue of some
sort but it doesn’t undermine the structural integrity of the pocket. Some slight

an earlier form, hand painted and initialed by Enid Collins. This bag carries her initials
but not the copyright mark. It is likely this bag dates to the early 50’s before the
court decision allowing the use of copyright for jewelry and bags rather than the much
more expensive patent. There is some finish wear, spotting and darkening on the wood. but

design. Haven’t seen this silver leather handle before! Signed on the bottom of the
bag in gold "Enid Collins Original Box Bag of Collins of Texas." Missing one
large silver glass petal on the front and generally shows some use. Inside of lid carries
full sized mirror. Measures 7 x 3 1/2 x 4 3/4". SOLD
A00443: A classic of its time and place, this spacious vinyl
covered off-white fabric bag has the most unusual handles!! The tortoise circles are
attached to the bag by four hairpin shaped lucite fittings which are affixed to the bag by
metal fittings. The interior is fully lined in coppery satin with one metal zip pocket and
one open pocket, which is marked in gold lettering “Fabrique Made in USA.” The
tab closure snap firmly. The tab and front of the bag are embellished with needlepoint
flowers, encircled with coppery glitter. Not surprisingly, a few flecks of the glitter
have migrated over the decades. There has been some less than graceful repair done to the
side seams, visible only under myopic scrutiny. Generally, the bag is in excellent
condition and quite unique! Measures 13 x 3 1/2 x 11 1/2” to the top of the body.

A00462: Outstanding gathered Lavender vinyl bag by Florida
Handbags. The White of the Lucite frame and handle is continued down both sides of the day
by the white vinyl corded trim. The front is embellished in chain stitch, twisted cording
and gold metal beads. Jazzy rainbow striped lining shows slight staining and soil and
features one metal zip and one open pocket. This pocket is marked in gold lettering
“Florida Handbags of Miami.” I think you’ll find this bag delightful.

Recent research in the Jan. 1955 issue of the trade journal “Handbags and
Accessories” proclaims in half page ads the consolidation of Leslie of Miami with the
outstanding Lucite handbag maker Patricia of Miami.
This beautiful bag is fully lined in gray cotton and includes the mirror mounted on the

decorated on the lid with a charming Pink & Blue “Little Engine That Could!”
Small rhinestones of various colors add sparkle. The unusual body is what it covered in
bands of woven raffia. Base measures 8 1/2 x 3”. The reverse pyramid body increases
in size to 10” x 5 1/2” at the high “waist,“ and back down to 10 x 4
1/2” at the top. The ergonomic diagonally mounted hinged strap handle is wide at the
center and narrows at either end. Fully lined in off white diagonal weave brocade which
shows minor soiling and a few pen marks. Complete down to the fabric label and four clear

Handsome octagonal collage bag of Lucite, wood and fabric unmarked but most likely Leslie
of Miami. The bag's wooden body is painted
pale blue and bound with braid in cream, blue and silver.
The white Lucite lid is embellished with flat rhinestones and the image of a
dancer in blue, reminiscent of The King and I. The
interior is fully lined in lavender taffeta. Excellent

A00411: A saucy Leslie of Miami black Lucite, Wood and
Celluloid handbag in charcoal and black. The
bag is unmarked but attributed by the proprietary clear Lucite swivel latch. The black Lucite lid and half-inch strap handle
are affixed to the Black wood top of the bag. The
bottom of the bag is also wood. The celluloid
marbled gray body is attached to the wood top and bottom with small metal brads. Some of these show discoloration and plating
wear. The black lid lifts to reveal an
unlined black painted interior. Measures 11 x

sparkling Lewis leaf tapestry handbag, woven through and through with the glistening gold
strands. The fabric is unique in my experience and has to be seen to be fully appreciated.
The body is corded around the edge with black vinyl. Black satin lining shows just a
suggestion of wear and features 2 gold corded open pockets and one metal zip pocket. Very
slight wear to one corner, otherwise excellent condition. Measures 11 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 10 1/4

Lin_Bren fitted Vanity Bag in Black Faille with all the trimmings. The double snap front
and back flaps open to reveal a free standing vanity case complete with comb, black faille
Lin-Bren loose powder compact with original puff and powder sifter. The compact is signed
on the case and the puff and carries a 1948 patent date. One flap is fitted with a full
size snap envelope-style pocket marked in gold “Neiman Marcus.” The other flap
has fitted sleeves for the compact and cigarettes and comes with a Lin_Bren box labeled
“This space reserved for your favorite Pack of Cigarettes!” The interior is a
sparkling watermelon taffeta. Beneath the frame of the bag there are fitted pockets for
the comb and lipstick tube. The one included is marked “Dorothy Gray Portrait Pink
SPECIAL Two for a Dollar!” The splendid Art Deco styling is the frosting on the cake!

floral handbag, sporting Morning Glories and a myriad of other flowers in a bouquet of
Spring Colors. The cotton chintz is quilted
in gold. The beautiful white faille interior
is marked "Magid Handmade USA" in gold and features two large open pockets,
original double-sided mirror and a matching faille coin purse with security chain. The lining shows no signs of use. Similarly, the
exterior is in fine condition with some storage and archival changes like graying and rust
